Thank God for 75 mph speed limits. Shaved 20 minutes off my drive from Austin to Abilene.

yes sir, was it still really windy or did it die down some?

Not much wind at all today. Gorgeous day, great driving weather. And these 75 limits are on US Highway, not interstate. Fantastic.

the fact remains - now you're in abilene

There is that. And now I'm in a hotel with absolutely glacial wifi. However, the weather is nice, and there should be some good plane spotting out at Dyess AFB tomorrow afternoon. But honestly, Abilene doesn't have a whole lot going for it.

Enjoy your plane spotting. Spot a B-1 for us!

That should be a national standard. Think of all the theoretical productivity time (the favorite unit of measure for those justifying banning websites at work) that would be saved.

Agreed. I'm old enough to remember family trips at 55 on the interstate. And you got popped for going 60.

That could be in Oregon today...

Lousy Hippie Texan liberal commies...we got 80mph zones in Utah.

There's plenty of 80 in west Texas, and we've got 85 on Tx130 in Austin. :P

I always have that funny math in my head where the iphone/tomtom estimates I'll be there in 5 hours, but I know I'll clock 4 hours and 5 minutes.
This thing goes one of two ways.
1)We go super-automated and the machine knows you're speeding.
or
2)We recognize that it ain't worth the revenue gathered by the state.
I'm hoping 2 and living that way.

Will do. Pics to follow. Here's one I shot last time I was here. Hopefully it posts. I have to tether to my phone because the wifi in this hotel is useless.
